The Bruguera Tennis Academy also specialises in training coaches with the famous Bruguera Method, developed by Lluís Bruguera in his more than 35 years of experience as a professional coach. The course runs from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm and 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
The course, 70% of which takes place on-court and 30% in the classroom, combines theoretical and practical approaches and imparts ideas that could prove decisive in a coach’s professional career. According to the course, the main aspects of a tennis player are: technique, tactics, fitness and mental toughness. In terms of technique, the course uses the Bruguera Method to teach specific exercises aimed at improving technique, fitness, numerous training concepts, footwork and mobility.
On a tactical front, participants work on planning and implementing target-based training sessions and on forging individual styles of play. The course also looks at exercises, ways of analysing and correcting mistakes, physical therapy and injury prevention. In the area of psychology, participants learn about developing intuitive intelligence and automation mechanisms. The coaches are also introduced to the use of video software to analyse technique and tactics.
